Network society in the information age

Our world has been in a process of transformation with the new technological paradigm, based on information and communication technologies. This structural transformation deeply affects the social composition of societies. As the world becomes smaller, informative and communicative technology creates a new form of society based on networking. Today we are connected to the outer world as never before. Manuel Castells, professor emeritus of sociology at the University of California, Berkeley, explains social transformation in society with the term "The Network Society." Bu yılki Elküs Marküs ödüllerine Şalom damgasını vurdu

İki yılda bir düzenlenen ancak pandemi nedeniyle 2020 yılında gerçekleştirilemeyen Elküs Marküs Erdem ve Hayırseverlik Ödül Töreni 30 Mart akşamı çevirim içi olarak gerçekleştirildi. Bir çok dalda ödüllerin dağıtıldığı gecede Şalom Dergi ve Şalom yazarlarına da ödüller yağdı. Fakirleri Koruma Derneği’nin Elküs Marküs Erdem ve Hayırseverlik Ödül Töreni 30 Mart Çarşamba akşamı Zoom üzerinden gerçekleştirildi. İki yılda bir düzenlenen ödül töreni pandemi nedeniyle planlandığı gibi Mart 2020 yılında gerçekleştirilememişti. Ödül töreni dört yıllık zorunlu bir aradan sonra çevirim içi bir törenle sahiplerine teslim edildi, başarıları ödüllendirildi.  Türk Yahudi Toplumunun yegane ödül veren kurumu olan Fakirleri Koruma Derneği, bu ödülü 1916 yılında, dönemin ABD İstanbul Büyükelçisi Abraham Elküs ve Gertrude Elküs’ün henüz 16 yaşındayken hayatını kaybeden kızları Jane Selma Elküs’ün anısını yaşatmak için vermeye başlamıştı.
