Avrupa Günü Kadir Has Üniversitesi’nde kutlandı

Avrupa Birliği’nin temellerinin atıldığı 9 Mayıs 1950’nin yıldönümü, Kadir Has Üniversitesi’ne bağlı Uluslararası İlişkiler ve Avrupa Çalışmaları Merkezi (Center For International and European Studies, CIES) tarafından Kadir Has Üniversitesi’nde kutlandı. ‘Avrupa Gününü Kutlamak’ başlığı altındaki etkinlik ‘Türkiye’deki Avrupa’ konulu fotoğraf yarışması sergisi ile açıldı. Etkinlik kapsamında düzenlenen panelin ilki CIES Direktörü Dimitrios Triantaphyllou moderatörlüğünde ‘Avrupa Vatandaşlığı İnşasında Ortak Zemin Arayışları’ konusunda gerçekleşti. Gazeteci Cüneyt Özdemir İngiltere’den, Türkiye Kurumsal Sosyal Sorumluluk Derneği’nden Serdar Dinler İstanbul’daki ofisinden, CSR Europe (Corporate Social Responsability) Genel Direktörü Stefan Crets Brüksel’den ve Sivil toplum Geliştirme ve Gençlik Uzmanı Behrooz Motamed-Afshari Viyana’dan Google Hangouts teknolojisi ile panele katıldılar. Avrupa vatandaşlığı konseptinin henüz yapım aşamasında olduğunu söyleyen panelistler, Avrupa’yı bir arada tutan değerlerin Öncelikle demokrasi, insan hakları ve barış olduğunu söylerken gençliğin potansiyeli ve eğitimin önemi üzerinde duruldu. Türkiye’nin Avrupa Birliği’ndeki yeri konusunu da tartışan panelistler Türkiye’nin AB’ye girmesi konusunda kötümser olmamakla beraber ülkeler arasındaki kültür farklılıkları dile getirildi. Üç Alman öğrencinin İstanbul deneyimlerinin anlatıldığı ‘Changing Perspectives’ (Değişen Bakış Açıları) adlı kısa filmin gösteriminden sonra Le Petit Journal d’Istanbul Editörü Anne Andlauer moderatörlüğünde ‘Çeşitlilikte Birlik: Erasmus öğrencilerinin gözünden Avrupa kimliği’konulu oturumda filmin yapımcılarının yanı sıra üniversiteler arası değişim programı Erasmus’a katılan öğrencilerin gözüyle farklı ülkelerde yaşama deneyimleri ve Avrupalı kimliği tartışıldı. Etkinlik fotoğraf yarışmasının ödül töreni ile sona erdi.
9 Mayıs 1950 tarihinde Fransız Dışişleri Bakanı Robert Schuman, Avrupa'da barışçıl ilişkilerin kalıcı şekilde kurulması gerektiğini belirterek ortak değerlere sahip bir Avrupa kurmak gayesiyle Schuman Bildirisi’ni önerdi. Bu tasarı, bugün Avrupa Birliği olarak kabul edilen kurumun temeli olarak kabul ediliyor.

Panorama Asks: The NATO Summit in Ankara

On 7-8 July 2026, NATO’s heads of state and government met in Ankara for the Alliance’s 36th summit. It was the second time Türkiye has hosted this gathering since Istanbul in 2004. The summit came at a difficult moment for the Alliance: a fifth year of war in Ukraine, growing pressure on European allies to turn defense-spending pledges into real industrial capacity, and continuing uncertainty over Washington’s long-term commitment to European security.
