Tel Aviv Üniversitesine konuk oldum


Gazetemizde ‘Objektif’ başlıklı köşesinde dış politika yorum ve analizlerine yer verdiğimiz Karel Valansi, geçtiğimiz hafta Tel Aviv Üniversitesi’ne konuk oldu.

Üniversitenin yabancı diller yüksekokulu Türkçe bölümü öğretim görevlisi Deborah Shechter’in daveti üzerine Ortadoğu tarihi öğrencilerinin tercih ettiği Türkçe dersine konuşmacı olarak davet edilen Valansi, Türkiye-İsrail ilişkileri ve Türk Yahudileri ile ilgili konuşmasının ardından öğrencilerden gelen soruları yanıtladı. İngilizce ve Arapçanın zorunlu olduğu üniversitede ek dil olarak sunulan Türkçeye en büyük talep Ortadoğu tarihi öğrencilerinden geliyor. Sanat tarihinde Osmanlı dönemini çalışan, Türk kökenli olup Türkçeyi öğrenmek isteyen veya Türkiye ve Türk kültürünü merak eden öğrenciler dışında Türk gelini ile daha iyi anlaşabilmek için Türkçe öğrenmek isteyen bir öğrenci de bulunuyor.
Öğrencilerden gelen soruların başında Türk halkının İsraillileri düşman olarak görüp görmedikleri ve bir İsraillinin Türkiye’yi ziyaret etmesinin güvenli olup olmadığı geldi. Seçimler öncesi Türkiye’nin siyasi durumu ile ifade ve basın özgürlüğü konularının tartışıldığı soru cevap bölümünde İsrail’in Türkiye’de ne kadar tanındığı da irdelendi. Hangi İsrailli yazarların eserlerinin Türkçeye çevrildiği ve okunduğu merak edilirken, ‘Duman’ gibi birçok Türk müzik grubunun ve ‘Karadayı’ gibi televizyon dizilerinin İsrail’de de merakla takip edildiği paylaşıldı. Çoğunluğu Türkçe, zor kısımları ise İngilizce süren sohbette öğrencilerin kendilerini Türkçe ifade etme becerisi ve çabası kayda değerdi.

Panorama Asks: The NATO Summit in Ankara

On 7-8 July 2026, NATO’s heads of state and government met in Ankara for the Alliance’s 36th summit. It was the second time Türkiye has hosted this gathering since Istanbul in 2004. The summit came at a difficult moment for the Alliance: a fifth year of war in Ukraine, growing pressure on European allies to turn defense-spending pledges into real industrial capacity, and continuing uncertainty over Washington’s long-term commitment to European security. Cem Habib  We talked about how the peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates affected the Jewish life in the Emirates, with the investment manager Cem Habib, who has been living in Dubai since 2016, and who is one of the founding members of the Jewish Council of Emirates (JCE), the first officially recognized Jewish community of the UAE. How long have you been living in Dubai? What influenced you in deciding to live here? I moved to Dubai in 2016, before I had been living in London.
